Looks like this holiday season will be tough for Nintendo, because the factories are having some difficulty keeping up with production, and there's no real end in sight yet. Don't expect much of a discount this year. The best deals are the ones posted in the deals forum here.
Just the other day, the Nintendo started selling more than xbox360, and the playstation3 has been left in the dust for a while. So if you're looking for a wii, it may be time to get it, since the shortage is likely to continue. article on wii passing xbox in sales Wii Shortage Article. |

I'm not sure about the shortage of the Wii on Black Friday, but as for right now every store I go into has nintendo wii's on the shelves. I took my son to game stop yesterday and they had a bunch of Wii's in stock.

If the stores are smart, the Wii's they do get in they should save for the holiday season (if they're allowed to do that.)

It depends on when you go I guess. Because they had a couple at our Toys-R-Us and when I went back they were gone. I asked the sales lady and she said they do get a few in every two weeks.
A couple of days later I went to Best Buy and they had just gotten them in and I got one for my Dad for Christmas. I did notice a few places would have them and a couple of days later they would be out. They only seem to get in a few at a time. I don't know how that will go come Black Friday, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were a shortage. |

You may see them now but as time starts to approach Christmas they will be gone. I'd say that alot of people that know they need this item this year will start getting them soon especially since they announced that there is going to be a shortage. I know that I see them advertised in the paper just about every week at one place or another. Glad I don't need one!

Hint: Toys R Us gets their shipments on Sunday mornings. If you get there at opening you are in good shape.
Nintendo doesn't let the stores know when and how many they will get in many cases, so the stores are just as suprised as we are. We had to do a little hunting for ours, but dh found it at a Wal-Mart that was kind of off the beaten path. We had tried 3 others in the area dn he actual "stumbled" on the one we bought while trying to get a few supplies for work while he was at a job site! LOL! I love it when that happens! He needed some nails and I got a Wii! |

Most of the stores that I've gone to in the DFW area have been hit or miss as to if they have any. When they do, I don't have a spare $300 dollars. When they don't, my pockets are bursting with cash.
Ok, that last part's a lie, but you get the point. I'm going to go ahead and say that the new iPod line and the Wii are going to be the hottest Christmas gifts this year. [makes prediction, then runs and hides] |

I already have our Wii but was curious if you all think that there will be some decent discounts on the games on Black Friday or should I start looking for good deals now? Some games that I have seen have been around $30 on sale but was wondering if I should add the games to my search of items on Black Friday.
I hate spending so much on the games! TIA! |

That's a really, really good question. I don't think prices have dropped much on games yet, huh?
I know I've been seeing some good deals on DT the past few days for accessories and things like that. Maybe that's a good sign? |

I hadn't even thought about the Wii still being hard to find until today. Our church is having a big outreach event in November and we'll be giving out door prizes every night. We'd like to give away a Wii on Youth Night. Today, we went to start pricing the larger prizes and couldn't even find a Wii. Hopefully, we'll find one in the next month!

I'm definitely buying the wii sooner than later. It will be hard to find or just in silly bundles.
And the Guitar Hero for Wii is launching Oct 28. That's going to be hot...and HSM2 Nov 2. I might pre-order these but yikes that adds up! Trish who had better start hunting down the wii.... This post has been edited by TnTWalter: Sep 18 2007, 05:43 AM |
