Is DealTaker’s Neal Rapoport a bot, No, I just don’t blog too regularly.

People ask me why I don’t blog more often, and I figured I’d stick a mid-month post to crush the rumors that I am some kind of monthly posting bot. :)

I do enjoy telling people about all the great new features of DealTaker.com and what’s new in my life, but either I forget (my bad), or I’m just busy…

So here’s a quick update.  Keep checking our Online Coupons area for some changes in how coupons are displayed, and also look into our very popular Black Friday 2007 page.  We hope to keep this as up-to-date as possible, and have our viewers be among the first for the Black Friday preview ads.

As far as me personally, I’m just staying busy working on new features, and trying to keep everyone happy.  My kids are busy in sports & cub scouts, so that pretty much takes up a lot of my time with all the games and stuff.

Well, that’s enough for now, but Keep checking in on us :)

It’s time to send the kids back to school.

It’s time to send the kids back to school. It’s that time of year, and the kids will be heading back to school soon.  My family was hoping to take a trip to Denver to see the rest of our family this week, but due to some unforeseen issues, we’re stranded here in Dallas for these last few weeks of the summer.  The weather here has stayed cool (well under 100) this summer, so the kids were able to play outside and swim when it wasn’t raining.  Today we were able to head to Six Flags, and had a ball until about 2, when the park got real busy, so we left (we have season passes).  Hopefully over the next few weeks we’ll be able to take a few more family days and do some more fun stuff.   At DealTaker.com, we’re still moving forward with new things, and we have our great Back To School Deals thread, and will be having some other new features coming soon too!

That’s enough for now, I’ll be back to post soon.

May already

Well, it’s already May.  Tax season is over, and the summer is coming soon.  Mothers Day is right around the corner, so don’t miss our Mothers Day Deals thread on DealTaker.com.

If you haven’t seen PriceTaker.com, our price comparison site, now’s the time to look.  We’ve added so many features like saving your searches, and listing some of the recent popular searches.  Also, you can find what you want, and email the search to a friend!  If you hit a slow point, don’t worry, we’re optimizing and adding new features all the time, so check back soon!

Like always, we’re still Hiring.  If you know PHP and MYSQL, and live in the Plano area, be sure to send in your resume!

And lastly, my birthday is May 10th, and I love gifts!… but the best gift is just to keep shopping through our links on DealTaker!

I really like Disney!

If you’re a member of DealTaker.com already, then you probably saw our  Newsletter, but if not, be sure to check it out.  We’re constantly adding more stores and enhancing our current features!.

Last month we gave away hundreds of DealTaker backpacks, and people loved our 3 year birthday celebration.   We hope to have a new contest available soon, so keep checking out DealTaker often!

Now on to my personal life… Well, I took the family on a disney cruise, and it was tons of fun! The kids loved the beach the best, so this summer we’ll try to just go to California or Florida and hang out on the beach for a few days with them.  I haven’t been to Galveston, but if it’s nice, we may even just go there, since we can drive!  My kids favorite thing to do was the Pin Trading… We’ve had some great deals on pins on our Disney Store Coupons page, so rather than paying $10 or so each, you can get tradable ones for like $3 or $4 each with the coupons!

Well, have a great month, and here’s some pictures!

I’m sick, but surviving

Well, it’s February, and Valentines day is soon approaching.  I haven’t decided what to get Abbey, maybe some flowers if I can get the energy to order them.  I’ve been sick for about a week already, and I am just sick of being sick.  I had the Flu and 102 degree fever plus bronchitis.  At least while I was home, I caught up on all my reality shows, and watched a few movies (Click, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Scarface), which I had been holding on to and never got to watch.

If you haven’t seen it yet, this is DealTaker’s 3rd Birthday.  And to make this birthday special, we’ve got 300 backpacks to give away!  All we ask is a link to dealtaker, from your blog, your email sig, or anywhere.  This is the last of the items with our old logo, so be sure to keep checking our contests for new items, hopefully within a month or 2, we’ll have some neat new nifty items to give away!  Besides the 300 backpack giveaway, we’ll be having contests to give away lots of other dealtaker stuff which has accumulated over the past year, (backpacks, prada purse, video games, and whatever else I can find).

Well, even though I’ve been sick, we’ve had some changes at DealTaker lately.  We have another Fulltime Moderator, Hanh, who will hopefully start taking over some of my linking-duties besides helping with the deals and coupons!.  Also, Beth is our new Editor, who’s working with us 3 days a week, cleaning up our Press Section, Privacy Policy, and other areas, as well as helping to promote the site.  We have a new programmer starting late next week too, who will be initially taking over pricetaker and getting it loaded with even more and more accurate data and some awesome new features!

No Blog post is complete without a few plugs.  If you haven’t yet started on your taxes, you can save a lot by using our Turbo Tax Promo Codes

Happy 3rd Birthday. We're giving the gifts!         Turbo Tax Deals

Well, now its time for me to rest a little more, and watch Fight Club.  Be sure to vote which celeb is the coolest!

The Holidays are over.

Wow, it’s been a crazy few months, and I know I’ve been absent from the blog for a month, but I’m still here.

We’re working on a few great new things in the coming months, and here’s a really quick preview:
1. We’re constantly adding more stores to PriceTaker, our Price Engine.  We’ve also added the ability to quickly add the resulting products into a DealTaker post, or into your personal Gift Registry, GiftTaker.com.
2. We’re adding more features to the Gift Registry, so creating events, and adding items will be even easier!
3. If you have the Google Toolbar, be sure to add the Dealtaker button, so you can quickly search DealTaker, and also see the latest deals in a simple drop-down!
4. We’re hiring.  If you live in the Dallas area and want to work for DealTaker, we have 3 open jobs, (moderator, PHP/Programmer, PR/Marketing). send us an email at jobs@dealtaker.com with your desired position, salary range & qualifications, and we’ll get you a job description & application.

On a personal Note, I was finally able to take a quick break with the family and we went Skiing in Colorado, it was fun, but its nice to be back in warm (well like 50 degrees) Dallas again.

Lots of Rain in Tucson

I’m in Tucson, AZ now, and its been raining every night.  The Rillito River is overflowing, and it’s a site to see.  If it gets any higher, we’ll need more towels (obligatory plug).

I can’t wait to get back to Dallas tomorrow and continue with our new features we have planned for DealTaker

A lot of people have been requesting the Old Homepage, and we are going to continue to keep that around as an ‘advanced view’, as well as clean it up a bit, and give registered users the option of choosing one of the other as their default.  In addition, we’re continually working on the searching.  Right now it says ‘entire site’ where it really means, ‘all deal areas’, but hopefully Thursday or Friday of this week, we’ll have that cleaned up.  Also, the PriceTaker data is undergoing a cleanup and we’re adding more and more stores worth of data too!

Have a great day everyone!

Pirates of the Caribbean

Sorry it’s been a little while since I blogged.  We’re on vacation before the new school year starts (in just a few weeks).  Well last night we went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie at El Capitan theater in Hollywood, CA.  It was quite an adventure.  Before the show there was an organ player which descended into the floor.  After the movie, we got to see a bunch of the props too.  Then we went shopping;  My kids made out like pirates themselves.. they got a Chess Set , and plenty of other stuff too!.

Here’s a pic of one of my boys with the Dead Mans Chest:

and one of the Toe necklace from the movie:

I gave in, and got the kids a playstation 2.

Well, Saturday we finally got it all set up.  We got a Playstation 2 an ilo 26″ lcd TV for the kids to put in the playroom.  I am really not into most of the games, but we got Wheel of Fortune, and it’s really quite good.  Me & Abbey took over the playstation for about 30 minutes to play.  Needless to say, I kicked her butt :)

This week my kids don’t have any camps or anything, so they’re at home, so hopefully this will entertain them enough so they don’t drive my wife crazy.

I’m still loving the slingbox!  I don’t know if it’s more fun watching the tv shows, or showing off to my friends how cool it is.

Today I’m going to fix the DealTaker Deals & Coupons Emailer, so hopefully it will work better for users with some weird email programs.

Have a great day everyone.
