I grew up about 20 minutes from the race track and have seen a few NASCAR races in my day. I’ve even met a couple of drivers and managed to get a few autographs. Although I have slacked off on keeping up with NASCAR events, I was excited to hear that DealTaker is going to be sponsoring NASCAR’s legendary veteran, Morgan Shepherd. Born October 12, 1941, Morgan Shepherd has been a NASCAR Sprint Cup driver since 1977. He has also raced in the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series.
His racing career began when he used his “souped up moonshine” car to earn extra money on the weekends. Shepherd finished second in the championship to Jack Ingram in NASCAR’s Late Model Sportsman division. In 1980, he won the series title. He became the second oldest race winner when he won the spring race at Atlanta at the age of 51.
