March (Not So) Madness

OK, so I like the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament each year, and I have filled out my bracket and everything this year, but it won’t be quite as much ‘madness’ as usual for me.  You see, my alma-mater is the University of Arizona and they made it to the tournament for 25 years straight (second only to UNC’s 27 appearances in a row), but they did not make it this year.

In fact the whole Pac 10 is pretty pitiful this year.  I believe the Pac 10 had 6 teams in the tournament the last couple years and this year they only have 2, and the highest seeded of those is 8.  What’s going on Pac 10?  Could Lute Olson’s drama and departure from Arizona have affected the whole Pac 10?  Is the Pac 10 just not a marquee-enough conference to keep young kids from jumping to the NBA?  I don’t have any answers, but I just hope the Pac 10, and especially Arizona, can start competing again soon!
