Let’s face it: as much as I love waking up at 5AM to get some of the holiday shopping essentials for my family, shopping with the kids can be a hassle, especially when the lines are long and there’s no shortage of crowds. That’s why I’m doing the majority of my shopping online this year.

Yes, I’ll still go out, but with plenty of deals on Cyber Monday, and with so many of the best deals aggregated here daily on DealTaker, I can find the best deals online, without the fuss of waking up early or enduring lines. Â And I’ve read a couple of articles that consumer spending is expected to go up year-over-year, so those lines might be even longer.

FedEx is expecting higher-than-previous-year shipments on their busiest day this year. Â That could mean one of two things: more people are doing their shopping online (as opposed to in the store), or the economy is rebounding.

For me, the rewards for shopping online at my favorite retailers is too great: saves time and,in the long run, money, too.

Unless you are a fan of getting up at the crack of dawn and fighting the crowds this is the best way to go. LOTS of stores are already offering Pre-Black Friday sales. Best Buy was offering Shop Early Save Big this past weekend. Walmart also had some great in-store offers. While my husband and I were out Saturday morning we picked the kids up a laptop at Walmart for under $300.

Walked in and right out without any hassles. Only 5 were left after we purchased ours. Not sure about you guys, but I plan to take advantage of the Pre-Black Friday sales.

Looking through our Black Friday ads that we have out I’ve noticed there are MANY things already available. Adding to these are sales going on now at many other retailers. So don’t get up at the butt crack of dawn or camp out Thanksgiving Day. Look now and get what you want online in the comforts of your home.

I have started a thread with Pre-Black Friday sales. Some have come and gone, but more are sure to come.

We are all anticipating Black Friday 2010 as the ads slowly start showing up. For me, the fun in Black Friday is finding the items today at the sale price, or even better, at a lesser price than advertised! In trying to prepare for what my family and I will be buying, I study the ads for the products that we are interested in. This is a great way for me to save myself time and money. First of all, today I will purchase the items I know we will want online, and save myself the pain of going into the store. In a few days, those purchases will just arrive at my door (also saving me the gas $)! Secondly, if it is offered at a lesser price online, then hands down, I need to get it today while the deal is available so I can save the extra money! To me, shopping for the items that are the best deal is sometimes like a scavenger hunt; where is my next awesome find? This is especially true of the Holiday Toy Books that some of the bigger stores put out. We’ve got four of the biggest ones on our Black Friday page already and at least 60% of the toys that these books are advertising for the holiday season are available right now online at or below the price they will be selling for in the stores. Getting these now online is SO much easier than fighting the crowds at the store.

Every year it seems like there is a deal that stands out on Black Friday. And I’m not talking about the coolest toy – those are never discounted more than a buck. Sure, those get people lined up halfway around the block on blustery Friday mornings as well.

But then there are those deals for HDTVs that lower the dollars-to-inch ratio, the possibility of name-brand budget netbooks dropping to mere double-digits. And well-equipped laptops not too far from that price.

Sure, maybe most of the door-busting deals are electronics, and maybe that’s your husband or son’s thing. Our family TV night is Thursday, but I don’t need 50+ inches to watch a sitcom––that sort of size that comes in handy on Sunday when I’m avoiding the TV room.

It is a relief for my budget when I can get that big-ticket item with plenty of savings. It works for me and the store, because it saves me money and I usually check a couple of other items off my list at the same place. Now, there aren’t too many Black Friday ads yet (when they are out, they’ll be here), but I wonder, what’s that big-ticket item that will get you buying, that you hope to get major savings from?

Today is Jour de l’Action de grâce, or Thanksgiving Day, in Canada.  I have some friends and family up in Canada, which means I always receive friendly greetings from them (and every year, without fail, I momentarily think they’re crazy when they message me “Happy Thanksgiving” more than an entire month early).

When I realize where they are and why they’re sending me Thanksgiving greetings, it gives me a reality check: when you’re in charge of the holidays running smoothly, it’s important to pace oneself – when I get those messages, I know it’s time to start preparing for Thanksgiving south of the border.  Of course, one key part of Thanksgiving is the start of the holiday shopping rush – Black Friday.  If the American Thanksgiving starts the shopping season, for me the Canadian Thanksgiving starts my preparations for Thanksgiving weekend, Black Friday included.

Black Friday can be a fun and productive day if you know what you’re looking for and where to find it for the lowest price. Â According to Wikipedia, the term dates back to 1966, primarily used on the East coast, and it has since spread across the country only as recently as 2000. Â Today well over 100 million Americans participate in the annual shopping spree – it’s quickly becoming an American tradition, and you’ll need a plan of attack.

DealTaker will have all of the information you’ll need to make the most of Black Friday – but beyond that I’d like to hear in the comments what tactics all of you use to make the most of the day.

That’s because it’s November and for bargain-hunters everywhere November means just one thing: Black Friday. DealTaker has long been a go to destination for Black Friday information and I think that’s because of the enthusiasm everyone here has for this time of year. There’s a real hubub when a new ad comes in. We all get excited and everyone from the content team, to the merchants, marketing and the developers get chatty when a new ad comes in.

We’ve done some things this year to help make the Black Friday information easier to find. First of all, check out our new and improved Black Friday page. There’s always a lot of information coming from lots of different directions so we’ve done our best on that page to keep it organized and easy to find.

This week is always a busy week as tons of new ads come in, so check back regularly for all the most up to date info. And know that when a new ad comes in your trusty DealTaker staff is just as excited as you are!

Well, Black Friday is quickly approaching, and once again, we were the 1st site on the web to report an advanced sale (Ace Hardware, back in June). Thanks to all our great members for making us the premier site for Black Friday shoppers everywhere!

TMX Elmo is the hottest thing around, and if you’ve been watching TV, you may have seen me showing off one that our members were able to get for only $32 on the initial release day!. Well, now’s your chance to win it. The details can be found here.

I usually like to tell the blog readers 1st when we add a new feature, but the latest addition to pricetaker we just rolled right out!. Our new component is a Filler Item finder (we still have the amazon one), for all the stores in PriceTaker. Now if you have a coupon (ie: $10 off $30 buy.com), you can easily look up all the items that cost $30 at buy.com. Or if you found something for $25, you can find $5 fillers quickly & easily. Besides Buy.com, we have over 600 stores, so this is no small database… we have over 15 million products in there.
